My problems are pretty much exactly the same as this guys, hopefully replacing the solenoid fixes it for me (and you) as well! I’ll link the thread I was talking about below as well. Will post a comment with results once it arrives. None in stock anywhere near me so I’ll be ordering one and replacing when it arrives. This has me feeling like it is definitely the VVL solenoid. I was good for a few days and started getting the code again and finally got the p105d. I removed my front vvl solenoid (the one right next to cylinder 2) cleaned it, and put it back in. They stated they brought it to the dealership and the dealership replaced the vvl solenoid and it fixed the problem. Did all the above stated and found a forum post of someone who was having the same issue. I’m a pretty amateur mechanic and I’ve been having this problem for a couple weeks except I was only getting p0302. Sorry for the long post but I just wanted to make it as detailed as possible for the next person that has this issue. I assume that this problem will come up again so I ordered a new VVL Solenoid just in case. I have now driven the vehicle for 1500 miles and it is still running smoothly. The misfire was gone and the codes did not reappear. I cleared the codes and took the vehicle for a test drive. I let it dry completely and sprayed it out again with mass airflow sensor cleaner to make sure I got it as clean as it could be. I shook the part and I could hear that the innerworkings were moving freely again. I cleaned the VVL Solenoid with mass airflow sensor cleaner. After I removed the VVL Solenoid I found that it was not freely moving when 12 volt power was supplied to the unit. After checking the codes, I decided to remove and inspect the VVL Solenoid next to cylinder #2. I checked the codes and P0302 and P105D were present. When I arrived at my house the check engine light came on. I drove the vehicle back to my house which is approximately a ten minute drive. The Jeep technician told us when we picked up the vehicle that the codes P0302 and P105D had not reappeared and that he had done extensive test drives. After a month and a half of Jeep having my vehicle I went to collect the vehicle because they could not diagnose the problem and it was still occuring. The problem was still occurring after the installation of the new VVT Solenoids and they still had not checked the part that I told them was most likely the problem in the first place (VVL Solenoid by Cylinder #2 5047897AC). I cannot verify if they even really spoke to Jeep Support in Frankfurt. They then swapped out all four VVT Solenoids part numbers 5048045AB and 5047788AD at the advice of Jeep Technical Support in Frankfurt, Germany. I immediately returned the vehicle to the Jeep Dealership and told them that they had not fixed the problem. They told us that the vehicle was ready for pickup and when I drove it home it started missing badly and the check engine light came on. Next, they swapped out the EGR Valve and the issue was still occuring. I didn't have a problem with that because it needed to be done anyway. The Jeep Dealership proceeded to swap out unnecessary parts. I web searched the problem and found out that many people were or are currently are having this same issue and that it was solved by either cleaning or replacing the VVL Solenoid 5047897AC by cylinder #2. I read the codes with an ODB2 Reader and I was getting codes P0302(Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected) and P105D(Intake Valve Stuck in High Lift Position). The problem that I was having was that the engine was sputtering and one cylinder was missing at low speeds/rpm. My Jeep was in the shop for a month and a half and they couldn't diagnose the misfire problem that I told them was most likely caused by the VVL Solenoid. Military in Germany so I took my Jeep in for repair at the local dealer here. I had the same issue at around 100,000 Miles.
